What is M.E.E.T. Magazine? Why do you Blog and Vlog?
I started the MEET Magazine blog, and the original Meet Magazine YouTube channel in July of 2013. And I feel that it's about time that I revealed why I logged on and began expressing my views on the entertainment industry, telling jokes and sharing news stories that I find on the internet, that I think that others may be interested in viewing.
It's been 9 about months since I began my internet quest to entertain the masses!
And out of the hundreds of thousands of people who read my blogs and watch my videos. Up until now, I haven't really said much about who I am. Why I do what I do. And what I plan to achieve by writing articles and posting videos online.
I'd love for MEET Magazine to become a Television program, as well as an actual printed magazine, with professionally written articles. Or at least a digital magazine. But I am content with blogging as a creative outlet for the moment!
For now, their are several questions that remain unanswered. Such as. What does MEET Magazine mean? Why did I chose that name? And what is my vision for my future brand?
M.E.E.T. Magazine is an acronym for Music Entertainment Education and Technology.
When I decided that I was going to become a blogger and Vlogger professionally. I knew that I'd have to come up with an interesting sounding name, that was easy to remember, and easy to find on search engines as well.
While brainstorming one day, I said to myself, "What do you want to talk about?"
I love music, I love to entertain people. I enjoying reading and conversing about Pop culture. And I'd like to teach people some of the various things that I've learned about various subjects.
With that said, I came up with the name "MEET Magazine" almost instantly! It flowed, it fit, it worked!
Now, I just had to figure out how I was going to put it all together.
I knew that I wanted to write in a non formulaic way. I didn't want to write in the style that I see other people writing in. The stiff, college term paper styling always turned me off! It's usually easy to spot a writer that was taught how to write. And when you listen to these writers speak, they sound like a different person. And in my opinion that style of writing sounds every unnatural. I guess it works in some avenues such as news stories. But it's too formal for entertainment, for my taste.
Being a self taught writer, and all around creative person. I figured that if I wasn't going to talk much about myself. It would be interesting if I were to write the way that I speak.
Sometime when I sit down to blog or make videos. I take a minute to process the story that I want to tell, and then, I word the story as close to how I speak as possible! I may not speak very much about my personal life on the internet. However, the way that I word things gives people a chance to connect with me, by me exposing them to my unique perspective, delivered to the reader and listener the same way that I speak in person. Like I am having a live conversation with the readers and listeners.
I must add. Before I started this blog, in my past, I wrote somewhat sporadically on several subjects pertaining to music and entertainment.
For example. I wrote a few articles online for several websites beginning in 1999, and then again around the year 2004. I reviewed a couple of mainstream music albums and even recap'd some reality TV. shows.
Nothing major, I just wrote some short articles under a pseudonym.
(Would have provided links here but they are not available)
In 2007, I made a couple of cartoon videos for YouTube. Where I poked fun at famous musicians. I wrote original dialogue, where I impersonated them by recording voice overs. (Yes I was one of the first people on YouTube doing that before it became somewhat popular.) I also made a handful of other random videos with topics ranging from comedy, to celebrity news and more.
I stopped after making a handful of videos because, I am not an animator nor am I a great video editor. I am a writer, a musician and an inspiring actor.
The editing process of making quality videos, as well as the expertise that it takes to direct well produced short and long form films. And the talent that it takes to animate drawings, are all skills that I felt were better off left to people who had the experience and technical know how.
So, the big ideas that I have for shooting TV. shows, movies etc. Had to go on the back burner for the moment.
I had to be realistic about my dreams and goals. They're so large, that there's no possible way that I can do it all by myself. I realized in late 2013, that I really need to either join a team or form one!
That way I can concentrate at what I'm good at. And that's being creative! I'm a writer remember? Why did I ever think that I could be lighting guy and the boom pole operator too? (The person who holds the big overhead microphone)
In order for me to be able to bring my ideas to life, I just had one other obstacle, other than flying solo and having no team just yet that is!
I had to answer two other questions.
#1 How do obtain the capital to pursue my dreams?
#2 How do I obtain the right connections to bring my brain child into fruition?
Now, after asking myself these two questions. I had an epiphany! I remembered two conclusions that I came to a very long time ago. And the fact that I had in recent times been hearing so many other people saying the same thing that I always knew in my heart. The two part answer was very simple! And I knew what to do all along! And that is...
#1 "Do what you like to do, are currently doing and would do for free!" and #2 "Do what you're already good at doing!"
I knew that what I wanted to do was entertain people and inform people at the same time .
I wanted for my audience to learn something, and not even realize that they were being informed while treating themselves to my humorous musings about pop culture.
Then, I began to ask myself, what it is that I am good at that I like to do. And I quickly realized something. People have always told me that I'm funny. So, while I do write serious articles, like the one that you are currently reading. =o) I usually use humor to get my point across. That way, if a readers or listeners opinion differs from my own, at least they'll get a laugh! Humor is a simple and effective way to relate to everyone!
While my ultimate goal is to establish my own company where I write, produce and star in television shows, movies, and record albums. All under one roof, fueled by my creative vision.
I need help to get it all done!
And I'm determined to see my big dreams begin to actualize themselves this year!
Me posting these blogs and vlogs will get me noticed. And they will be here for me to direct potential partners to as examples of my work. That way, I can get this thing going!
Speaking of going. Before I go, I just had to say this.
While I see other people pointing out everything that is, "wrong" in the entertainment industry. I decided to actually do something about it! My motto is that, if you're not seeing the positive, inspiring and fulfilling entertainment that you crave. Then create it yourself. And in a nut shell, that's my vision! To create positive, inspiring, creative and fulfilling entertainment. Oh with some raunchy comedy on the side. =o)
And I have complete faith that the Universe will place me in the right place at the right time to get it all done!
Music Entertainment Education and Technology, the blog, the YouTube channels, the vision shall rule 2014. I'm speaking it into existence. Enjoy! It's about to be a great year!
