The 5-month-old son of Florida woman Jessica McCarty died Sunday, two days after McCarty allegedly killed her other two children in a horrifying attackthat still has police baffled.
McCarty was arrested outside her Palm Bay home Friday night after police responded to what was initially reported as a stabbing.
Police now say that McCarty choked 5-month-old Christopher Swist and 6-year-old Philip McCarty, and drowned and strangled 7-year-old Laci McCarty, Florida Today reported. None of the children was stabbed.
Laci died soon after the attack on Friday, and Philip died hours later on the way to an Orlando hospital.
Christopher remained on life support until succumbing to his injuries Sunday night.
McCarty, 33, was charged Saturday with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, which will likely change now that Christopher has died. She could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
She’s being held without bond, and jail pictures show her wearing a suicide prevention vest, WFTV reported.
McCarty reported the crime herself, calmly calling police to say her three children were dead and that she had slit her wrists and had a gun with her.
She also took pictures of blood in the house and sent them to her boyfriend Christopher Swist, the father of baby Christopher. He called the cops shortly after she did, and soon arrived at the home to find his son with a cord wrapped around his neck.
Police subdued an aggressive McCarty outside the house after they say she emerged holding a butcher knife and with self-inflicted cuts on her wrist. She was treated at a hospital before being charged.
Police are still trying to piece together why McCarty committed the depraved attack.
“Indications are that there were some issues with their relationships,” Palm Bay Police Chief Mark Renkens said Monday, referring to her boyfriend Christopher. But Renkens did not give any other details about possible domestic problems.
Police are looking into McCarty’s history of drug abuse. Her criminal record has a DUI arrest from 2009. She also stole hundreds of hydromorphone and oxycodone pills while working at a doctor’s office in 2013, eventually spending six months in a county jail for failing court-ordered drug tests.
The Department of Children and Families had contacted McCarty once in 2009 for “inadequate supervision,” officials told Florida Today.
McCarty left a note at the crime scene addressed to her family, saying she was “sorry for what she had to do.”
There was also a three-page letter in a car on the driveway, whose contents haven’t been revealed.
A prayer service for the children, with the father Christopher Swist in attendance, drew nearly 600 people Monday night."

Cords around the neck? Stabbing 5 month olds? Stealing pills?
Yeah sounds like the south to me! This is what Southern hospitality is all about.
Just a normal day for Florida and the southern region of America!
You know? Where people have morals and values.
I just wish the media would call this what it truly is, which is just another White on White crime.
Don't get me wrong, she is a serial killer as well. But this is White on White crime at it's finest!
